Tech Pack

At Sample Room we strongly believe a Tech Pack is the end product of development. It includes detailed tech drawings and include intricate details of make to share with your manufacturer to answer every manufacturing question. This combined with graded specification derived from graded patterns allow for accurate quality control (QC)  / quality assurance (QA). Fabric usages allow for accurate costing and fabric and trim purchasing. This document starts as a Design Brief Document and is added to throughout the development process for the ultimate technical document.

Pattern Making

Are you looking for a pattern maker to assist you with your design needs? Read below to find out how we can help.

A Pattern is the core of the product development process. A Pattern is the blueprint or template used to cut out the fabric which makes the sample. A good Pattern has considered Design, Balance, Fit, and reflects your idea perfectly. We use computer Patternmaking software to create our patterns which are printed on paper and card.
Our Patternmakers will work with you to create the perfect fit. With extensive experience in all facets of the fashion industry, you can feel confident that your patterns are created accurately and professionally to save you time and money.

We provide you with creative pattern making solutions to express your designs with expertise and ensure accurate samples and problem free manufacturing. Accuracy in design, pattern making, grading and specifications is essential for smooth onshore and offshore manufacturing. Marker making, plotting and CAD digital patterns for offshore factories are also available for complete manufacturing information.

Do not hesitate to call if you are interstate or overseas. We have extensive experience with interpreting designs and communicating with interstate and overseas clients, our team can provide you with a customised service that ensures your designs become an easy manufacturing reality

A toile is usually the first garment in the design process. Used to check for fit and design detail without the extra cost of a finished garment. We often make this garment out of complimentary base cloth to ensure you can see how the fabric drapes or reacts in the garment. Once you see your design come to life, you are free to discuss changes to fine tune your vision. A toile allows you to do this without wasting money.

After a pattern is made and approved you will need grading. Find out below how we can help you with your production needs.

Grading is a mystery to many people. We can guide you through the maze to create industry specific or custom grading charts for your range.

Experience in men’s, women’s, plus size and children’s grading, our team of experienced pattern makers check and double check to ensure accuracy and the best possible usage. For additional accuracy all patterns are printed as a nest for approval before computer graded patterns are printed as a marker or on card. We are also happy to work with your manual or computer patterns, grading them to your grading charts or creating a unique grading chart for your target customer.

Graded nests are printed before we hand cut card patterns for accuracy and precision. We can also deliver patterns in digital format directly to off-shore manufacturers and clients.

A marker is a bit like Tetris®. This is where we take the finished graded pattern and carefully place all the pattern pieces for maximum fabric usage (e.g. minimise waste). This is then printed on paper for your manufacturer to cut. Manufacturers prefer this to card patterns as they don’t have to make the marker themselves. We hold your marker on file if you ever need to reprint for future production runs. During the development process we can discuss the best method for your garment to determine if a marker or card pattern is more suitable.

Card Pattern

Once your patterns are graded, we can also print them on card. This method of delivering patterns is best for when you are using patterns (e.g. flowers, paisley, etc.) or stripes or if you are going to repeat your style in different fabrics in the future. Some people just like to have a hard copy of their patterns and with our brand new accurate card plotter / cutter, we can accurately and quickly print and cut your patterns.

Graded Spec

A graded spec is a document that is derived from a finished graded pattern. Some people ask for a graded spec at the beginning of the process but this would involve a lot of guesswork and likely not a great end product. Critically, your manufacturer is going to require complete and accurate information in order to ensure that you get what you need from the final product. Our advanced pattern making system allows us to create accurate graded measurements of all your sizes to add to your Detailed Specification. This is accompanied with a detailed trade sketch with reference lines so for your manufacturer to follow, no matter their command of English.

We will help you to achieve your goals and to grow your business.
